Anote's Ark
Matthieu Rytz
Everybody is talking about climate change. But what does it mean for those, who are actually and directly affected by it? Meaning for those, who are not merely experiencing stronger winds, colder winters and hotter summers, but for those, whose home actually sinks into the sea, like it is happening for the residents of Kiribati?
When a ticking bomb becomes real, it is time for action. In search for a solution, Anote Tong, president of Kiribati, starts a sensational campaign for rescuing, if not the whole archipelago, then at least its residents.
Plans for building a special ark are no longer just a symbol, but could be a blueprint for what we really have to expect in the future. Not everybody likes that. The resistance to coming to terms with reality is huge.
