Art and Me
Compromise and artistic vision often go together like oil and water. Yet emerging artists, filmmakers and cultural practitioners in particular seem inevitably to reach a point where they must ask themselves whether and how they can hold their own in the art world without losing their own identity.
Hans Block achieved critical acclaim in 2018 with the documentary “The Cleaners”; he works across theatre, film, books and radio drama, and explores themes of digitality and immortality.
Pauline Roenneberg works as a director in both documentary and feature film and is one of the co-initiators of the appeal “Angst essen Kino auf” (Fear Eats Cinema), which was presented at the congress in 2023 and called for greater courage in supporting emerging filmmakers.
In the workshop, both will talk about their artistic careers and, together with students, develop strategies for successfully establishing themselves in the creative industry.
