Artificial Intelligence - the end of art?
Machines that fabricate images, write screenplays, make up films – is art on the brink of its last metamorphosis? Even Hegel already described art as something that "remains in the past for us", long before algorithmic systems took effect.
In her essay "Artificial Intelligence - the end of art?" philosopher Catrin Misselhorn radicalises this question: If creativity can be simulated, what actually remains from the artistic act? Is AI generated art sole imitation or a new aesthetic? Together with Leon Joskowitz, she discusses authorship without an author, experiences without a root and what film remains to be, when images are not being seen anymore, but calculated. A conversation about the future of art in times of its algorithmic reproducibility.
