Conduct! Jede Bewegung zählt
Götz Schauder
Every two years, hundreds of young artists apply for a place at the prestigious International Conductors' Competition Sir Georg Solti. Their goal: to reach the finale at the Alte Oper Frankfurt. Named after the former music director of the city, the expectations of the top talented young conductors are extremely high. At the conductor’s stand of the hr-Symphony Orchestra and the Opera and Museum Orchestra musical talent, body language, empathy, authority, discipline and passion count. The film follows five finalists in these career-defining days of success or failure and impressively documents the intricate interplay between the conductor and orchestra. A graduate of the HfG Offenbach, Götz Schauder succeeds not only in creating an intimate portrait of five artists, he also filmically honours the two Frankfurt orchestras and their outstanding instrumentalists through providing a fascinating insight into the world of classical music and its sonic power.
Following the screening, a *MOVIE TALK* takes place in the presence of director *GÖTZ SCHAUDER*, together with *AZIZ SHOKHAKIMOV*, one of the portrayed conductors in the film, *HOST: RUTH FÜHNER*, hr2-kultur
