Das stille Leuchten – Die Wiedereroberung der Gegenwart
Anja Krug-Metzinger
Omnipresent social media, constant availability and information flows at frenzied paces have been producing oppositional trends for some time – keyword deceleration. Topics such as meditation classes, Slow Food and others enjoy rising popularity. A new culture of consciousness has quietly
entered institutions of education: the Elisabethenschule(secondary school) in Frankfurt has integrated a project called “Mindfulness in School” into their everyday school schedule. A French soccer club is teaching its juniors self-awareness and how to consciously deal with their emotions.
In her new documentary, Anja Krug-Metzinger introduces institutions that have taken steps towards future-oriented paths and asks: How would we like to live and learn in tomorrow’s world?
While making her documentary Das stille Leuchten – die Wiedereroberung der Gegenwart (The Reconquest of the Present), Anja Krug-Metzinger visited many educational institutions in Germany and other countries, including Frankfurt’s Elisabethenschule. The director from Frankfurt has been lauded with numerous international awards, most recently with the Gold Award by the European Independent Film Award 2017 in the category Best Documentary, as well as the
Golden Cine Award 2017 at the Canadian Headline International Film Festival.
