Die sagenhaften Vier
Wolfgang Lauenstein, Christoph Lauenstein
In the presence of the directors Wolfgang and Christoph Lauenstein.
The sheltered everyday life of Marnie - a spoiled and pampered pet kitten – mostly consists of sleeping, eating and spy films. But Marnie is yearning for a real adventure, in the outside world, beyond the well-known walls, far away from her owner. Just as her favourite show. When her owner’s dubious brother, uncle Paul, comes to stay for an undefined time, her dream of becoming a spy comes true faster than she could have dreamed.
Soon, Marnie uses her detective skills to find out a secret, but she is soon set out and abandoned by uncle Paul. Being free for the first time, she overcomes all obstacles and exciting adventures with a guard dog on the run, a lonely rooster and a donkey disguised as a zebra.
The film Die sagenhaften Vier (Marnie´s World) evokes the classic Grimm fairytale Die Bremer Stadtmusikanten. A charmingly realised story of courage, adventure and friendship. Acting as a main producer is the company scorpas medien AG from Frankfurt. The creative, financial and logistical lead was stationed in Frankfurt and helmed by producer Jan Bonath.
In 2010, we screened Das Sandmänchen – Abenteuer im Traumland and are excited to have another lovingly told production from this company in our programme.
The music and audio post-production were executed by the studio klangBezirk from Wiesbaden. Die sagenhaften Vier (Marnie's World) received the rating ‘besonders wertvoll‘ (especially valuable) by the FBW (Deutsche Film- und Medienbewertung).
Die twin brothers Wolfgang and Christoph Lauenstein received an Oscar for Best Animated Shortfilm among other awards for their stop-motion animated film Balance in 1990. Since 2014, they have shifted their efforts and dedicate themselves as authors and director to their own projects.
