Kein Tier. So Wild.
Burhan Qurbani
Richard III. in underground Berlin: The bloody feud between the Arabian Clans York and Lancaster finally seems resolved. A union is supposed to seal the peace: a marriage between Ali Lancaster and Rashida York. But the youngest daughter in her clan wants to rule, not obey. Behind the treacherous calm, her scrupulous ascent begins. Deceptions, intrigues and murders plaster her way to power - until her childhood and the bombs of another war catch up to her.
In Burhan Qurbanis adaptation of Shakespeare it’s not Richard who rules, but Rashida. Star actress Kenda Hmeidans moves like a feline predator through this cold world, strategic and irresistable. The visual language is defined by dark rooms, sharp silhouettes and an unapproachable production. Kein Tier. So Wild. is grand cinema between theatre and thriller, between myth and the Mall of York.

Press reviews
“Kenda Hmeidan plays fantastically with Yoshi Heimrath’s camera, as much as the camera plays with her. [...] All contradictions of Shakespeare, all the contradictions in experiences of war, escape, violence and power weigh upon this figure, that is destined to burn and explode on the screen until everything around her is destroyed with her.” (Karsten Munt, filmdienst.de)
