Opening Lichter Art Award

The 15th edition of the LICHTER ART AWARD brings together works that delve deep into questions of identity and otherness - personally, socially and politically. In her video work Ich hätte lieber einen anderen Film gemacht, Suse Itzel confronts viewers with her experience of sexual and psychological abuse in her own family. In Verbogene Zeit, Paul Haas tells of the challenges of growing up as a young man in East Germany with poetic sensitivity. The collaborative animation work Tako Tsubo by Eva Pedroza and Fanny Sorgo takes us on a surreal, humorous and existential drama. Samira Elagoz and Z Walsh immerse us in the uncompromising visual world of their transmasculine reality in the visual documentary You can't get what you want but you can get me. Franz Wanner takes us to Berlin-Lichtenberg in 1943, where a filmed memory of a family walk in the park reveals what many did not want to see at the time - and what some still deny today.
