Regional short films I

From the South to the big city and all the way to the north - from all of Hesse and the Rhine-Main region, filmmakers are presenting their works in the regional short film competition. Both debut films and those with established styles compete for the coveted LICHTER-Bembel and monetary award of 1.000 Euro. In addition, the Filmhaus Frankfurt is awarding the “Filmhaus-Geripptes”-award Young Talents with a seminar voucher worth 500 Euro - an appreciation of the short form that three film programmes will celebrate.

A whole spectrum of filmic creativity is to be expected: lovesick cockroaches and animated cat-dreams, surreal cruises and small gestures of protests all the way to politically engaged documentaries on femicides. We’re presenting brave activists, experience nightmares and fears and listen to soft, almost forgotten romances. Being trans in a heteronormative world, the last plants on a dying planet, the relationship between man and object - the films lead us through a kaleidoscope of emotions from lively music videos to deep and calm dramas. The competition promises cineastic explorations, moving insights and maybe even answers to question we haven’t even asked yet.
