Teatro de guerra (Theatre of War)
Lola Arias
Following: Film-Talk with Anette Reschke and Matthias Pees. In the presence of the director Lola Arias.
35 years after the war on the Falkland islands, Argentinian and British veterans meet each in scripted situations – in a film studio, a public pool or at a table of tin soldiers. Through communal remembrance and re-enactment of the experienced, the past is processed anew. The six former war enemies soon get to their present spiritual and physical conditions. Finally, each of them meets a young man representing the role of their past selves.
The film Teatro de Guerra, partly made in Frankfurt, was realized parallel to Lola Arias' internationally celebrated play Minefield. Created as an independence piece of work with the same protagonists, it expands the perspectives of the play and carefully brings the trauma of a whole generation to the surface without becoming weepy.
