The Scrapbox
Daniel Herzog
Two years of preparation, 32 sets, 41 days of shooting, 1.5 km wooden slats, 1,200 square meters of cardboard and lots and lots of foil - Welcome to the bizarre world of filmmaker Daniel Herzog and illustrator Robin Wissel, students at the Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach (HfG)! The feature film with a penchant for music videos and detours into the world of stop-motion technique tells of the fantastic adventure of musician Calvin Stereo, VJ Vincent Volt and the red-haired beauty Alex. Under the influence of Naiad the alter egos of Duke and Wissel - originally stage characters from their shared time at concerts - land on Captain Singapore Westwood’s mechanical lindworm, an underwater vehicle. To electronic beats and accompanied by musical performances they encounter all sorts of odd people and in the end, will even include the obligatory underwater battle.
Hosted by the HfG professors Rotraut Pape and Heiner Blum, the brainchild of the two students is celebrating its premiere at LICHTER.
