The fundamental question of the role of laughter is posed by the Frankfurt-based theatre scholar Nikolaus Müller-Scholl in the opening event of the LICHTER’s supporting program. In his lecture "Das letzte Lachen" [the last laugh] he illustrated with the aid of the film _Life is Beautiful_ by Roberto Benigni, the debate between Walter Benjamin and Theodor W. Adorno on the political dimension of humour.
