The blind Lebanese Rabih is planning a tour through Europe with his orchestra. When he applies for a passport for the first time, he finds out that he has spent his entire life proving his identity with fake papers. Enquiring about this, his family responds dismissively. Why is there no evidence of his origin, who is he?
He asks further, encounters contradictions and obvious lies. Rabih takes courage and takes himself on a search for his birth certificate across the country. On it, he encounters further walls of silence, which, step by step, reveal to him an abyss of undigested war traumata and hidden lines of conflict.
His road trip through rural Lebanon leads him through barren and beautiful landscapes, which seem to evade the concept of time. The backdrop also has a symbolic function and similarly, Rabih's music transports something throughout the film – lament and mastery at the same time.
The film has already enthused audiences at numerous festivals, including at the *Cannes critics' week *and the *BFI London Film Festival*.
