Wolfskinder

Rick Ostermann

They do not know where to go and yet know only one goal: survival. The film _Wolfskinder_ deals with the fate of children from East Prussia, who have lost their parents and became homeless at the end of the Second World War. To escape the certainty of death through starvation, they fight their way on their own as war refugees to the Baltic, in the hope to be taken in by farmers and to take on a new, non-German identity. 14 year-old Hans ( Levin Liam ) is separated from his little brother right at the beginning of their escape in the summer of 1946. On his arduous journey through a landscape, which is at once idyllic and crude, Hans keeps meeting other war orphans who share his desperate search and deep sense of loneliness. Together, the self-reliant children try to defy discovery by Russian soldiers, constant hunger and the lurking dangers of an unprotective environment. Director Rick Ostermann tells the touching story of the Wolfkinder with primary images and sheds light on a forgotten trauma of the Second World War. A project funded by Hessische Filmförderung is a highlight for all fans of lore - competing for the Max-Ophüls-Prize 2014. _*Director Rick Ostermann will be present*_
