Due to the pandemic development of the last days and weeks, the 2nd congress FUTURE OF GERMAN FILM - FORUM EUROPE, planned for December 1-3, unfortunately has to be postponed to next year. A new date has already been set: the congress will now take place from May 11 to 13, 2022 - again in Frankfurt am Main, again with a strong European focus.

Even though the cancellation just one week before the start of the congress hurts tremendously: The current dynamics of rapidly rising infection rates and the associated pitfalls and imponderables make it impossible to responsibly plan and hold a congress whose audience would have traveled from all over Germany and other European countries.

With this cancellation we do not want to send the signal that it should once again be the cultural sector that is first and most affected by the closures of the Corona policy. On the contrary: since the beginning of the pandemic, it was primarily the theaters and cinemas that organized their events in an extremely responsible manner and thus - as several studies have proven - precisely did not contribute significantly to the incidence of infection.

As a small consolation, but also as a preview of the congress in the coming May, two panel events, which were planned in cooperation with FERA, the European representation of interests of film and television directors, will take place online. It is already clear that FERA - together with AG Dok, BVR and VG Bild Kunst - will again be an important cooperation partner of the congress FUTURE GERMAN FILM - FORUM EUROPE in May next year and thus contribute to its European orientation.

On December 01, 2021, starting at 5 p.m will be streamed
