2ND CONGRESS FUTURE GERMAN FILM - FORUM EUROPE POSTPONED

Due to the pandemic development of the last days and weeks, the 2nd congress FUTURE OF GERMAN FILM - FORUM EUROPE, planned for December 1-3, unfortunately has to be postponed to next year. A new date has already been set: the congress will now take place from May 11 to 13, 2022 - again in Frankfurt am Main, again with a strong European focus.

The "Frankfurt Positions on the Future of German Film," which emerged as part of the 2018 LICHTER Film Festival in Frankfurt am Main, took the film politics debate in Germany an important step forward. Fundamental innovations in funding and financing, film education, distribution and cinema culture that could revitalize German film were captured in this concept and subsequently discussed at many events nationwide. This approach will be further pursued during the congress and this time will be considered more from a pan-European perspective. Some events will be held in cooperation with the important European interest group The Federation of European Screen Directors (FERA), which is meeting simultaneously in Frankfurt with its members from all over Europe. The Future of German Film Initiative will bring together high-ranking representatives of the German and European film industry at the 2nd Congress to discuss issues and challenges of film policy as well as film and cinema culture. The congress will be accompanied by a small curated film series on current German film.
