The film industry is facing huge challenges. While many European productions rely on state subsidies, many markets outside of Europe, such as Nigeria and South Korea, are working sucessfully with entirely different financing models. But how does this affect creative freedom, financial stability and international competitiveness?

This panel wants to look beyond traditional assumptions and aims to discuss how European and international film industries handle current challenges, such as the dominance of streaming platforms, the influence of artificial intelligence, financial risks, an increased need for sustainability, and how they establish a balance between global trends and local stories. Which strategies exist between the extremes of funding a film in total with private investments or public financing, which of them work and what can we learn from one another?
