Return to Homs

Talal Derki

Three years during the Syrian civil war significantly affect the lives of two young men. The 19 year old Basset was the goalkeeper in a football team and becomes a popular singer of revolutionary songs. His friend Ossama is 24 years old and is in fact a journalist and a cynical pacifist who accompanies the revolution with his camera. Filmmaker Talal Derki documented the lives of the two men and their dream of freedom in Homs. When the Syrian intelligence service transforms the city into a ghost town and Ossama is arrested, he is forced to change his political views and the two peaceful protesters turn into armed rebels.
