The Man in the Orange Jacket (M.O.Zh.)

Aik Karapetian

We learn about the prior history only in passing via a radio announcement: A wave of mass redundancies leads to immediate unemployment for 211 Latvian port workers. Then, the CEO of the port company drives in his company car to his luxury villa to spend time in seclusion with his wife. However, an uninvited guest is hiding somewhere within the splendid rooms: One of the dismissed workers, recognisable by his orange vest, planning his bloody revenge. The first 15 minutes alone let the audience’s blood run cold because what Aik Karapetian captures for the screen in the first horror film from Latvia, is quite something: In selected, distanced imagery he tells an allegorical story of the cruelty of capitalism and presents his simple story as a highly stylised revenge thriller. A film about the horrors of money - not for the faint hearted! _*After the screening Gaby Babic (Festival director of goEast, Wiesbaden) and Toby Ashraf (LICHTER) will discuss violence in movies and violence in capitalism under the title “Kino Kontrovers.“*_   _*In attendance of director Aik Karapetian.*_ "*Buy Ticket now >>*":http://www.adticket.de/Lichter-Filmfestival-Shop.html?format=raw&searchname=Orange%20Jacket
